Correspondence - Kirjeenvaihto
Texas - Finland group exhibition and portfolio exchange project
Yö Galleria 14.-27.2.2025
Opening 13.2.2025 at 18
The group exhibition Correspondence - Kirjeenvaihto introduces the results of a unique cultural exchange and dialogue in the form of original prints from fourteen different artists. Seven artists from Texas, USA and seven artists from Finland have created artworks on the themes of correspondence and communication. The printmaking techniques vary from woodcut to silkscreen and from etching to lithography. The works invite us to think about the connecting ties and shared experiences between individuals and communities.
The idea for the project was born during a dinner in the spring of 2023 between two visual artists:
Houston-based Kelly Moran and Vantaa-based Inka-Maaria Jurvanen. The discussion about the possibilities of promoting cultural ties quickly developed into a concept that aims to emphasize and celebrate slowness: the value and meaning of the time required for thinking, concentrating and attentively forming a message.
All participating artists have created one artwork for the project. The artworks are equal in size: 33 x 48 cm
(13 x 19 inches). As part of the project, all artists receive a portfolio containing 14 prints: one of each work.
The exhibition will be on display also in Houston, Texas at Redbud Gallery in April 2025.
