In Jerker Ramberg´s exhibition Demure Casket the artist has returned to painting after a long hiatus. In his paintings Ramberg tests the materiality of contemporary painting forming collages onto the canvas using plastic traupalings transparency and cotton textiles softness. The exhibition deals afterlife in a humouristic tone, where tipsy skulls smoke cigarettes and somewhere at the plains rides a cowboy. The figurative paintings have an anarcistic tantrum, but at the same time likability. The worlds and characters of the paintings try to demolish their normative molds with sympahty. In Ramberg´s exhibition death is a hedonistic party, where the viewer is run over by it´s wheels.
Jerker Ramberg (b.1989) graduated as Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2016 and is currently studying comparative literature and creative writing in Turku University. He´s born in Helsinki, but lives and works ini Turku. His works usually combine multiple mediums from writing to photography. Ramberg´s art reflects images of popular culture and the nordic melancholia.
